Don’t forget sunscreen, especially on sunny days, the reflection off the water is no joke.
Our Experience
We rented a tandem kayak and set out into the Newport Harbor, cue the “who’s steering this thing?!” jokes. The water was calm, making it easy to paddle and take in the sights. We cruised past fancy yachts, waved at people on paddle boards, and enjoyed a few moments of peaceful quiet away from the crowds. One highlight: pausing near a dock to watch a group of sea lions sunbathe. If you’re worried about tipping over, don’t be, the kayaks felt really stable, even when we tried turning in place (with only mild zig-zagging).
